Kirinyaga county is located in Kenya's central highlands. Directly south of Mount Kenya - the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro - the county's farmers utilise the abundant altitude and rich volcanic soils of the mountain's foothills to produce coffees characterised by their high quality, complexity and sweetness. This specific washing station, Karani, works with more than 600 members of the larger cooperative and processes over 450,000 kilograms of coffee cherry each year. The washing station is named for the owners of the farm that was on the land now occupied by the washing station.

Sweet undercurrent of cane sugar, and sucanat leads into fruited accents of orange tea, tamarind, apricot, and tangerine, and an aromatic finish. Lively acidity has tangy aspects of lemon, and hibiscus drink.
